When my favorite environmental magazine put out a call for freelance writers, I jumped in with my HVAC solutions
I guess I never thought of myself as a wordsmith, but for most of my life I had absolutely enjoyed writing. I just don’t think that I ever stopped and considered how much I enjoy the task, because it’s not a part of my daily life. However, looking back I have always been praised highly for my ability to string words together in various settings. The thing is, there are only certain topics that I enjoy writing about, myself. Specifically, I am most interested in heating, cooling, and ventilation solutions as they relate to eco-friendly lifestyles, reducing energy expenditure, and saving the planet. This is probably because I come from a long line of dedicated handymen and heating, cooling, and air quality control specialists. I essentially know everything there is to know about indoor air temperature control units, indoor air quality, and HVAC maintenance… and yes, I’m skilled in energy efficiency practices, as well. I mean, I have been working in the heating, cooling, and ventilation field for over 20 years at this point. However, I also feel very strongly about global climate change and reducing our carbon footprints. This intersection of HVAC and eco awareness is a good place to be, but it was only a few years ago that I realized I could combine my continued interests in writing, climate change, and heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment. When my favorite environmental magazine put out a call for freelance writers, I jumped in with my HVAC solutions. Wouldn’t you know, now I have a second career as an HVAC writer.
