Convincing husband purification is needed after MIL can’t breathe

There are years when I wonder if my husband and I are actually a good match or not.

We have many of the same opinions and overarching views on life but we also have many differing perspectives.

At times, these discrepancies are so vast that I have a difficult time understanding where he is operating from. I know that he feels similarly. Recently we have both been in a bit of a fight over our current indoor air temperature control system. We keep fighting in front of our thermostat and calling our HVAC technician in the middle of our arguments because we don’t understand each other. I know, we both just want to have high quality indoor air and air temperature control equipment in our home. However, my idea of high-quality indoor air differs from my husband’s. For the past two years I have been trying to convince him that we should get a brand new air purification system which would work in tandem with our basic central heating, cooling, and ventilation system to reduce the airborne allergens in our home. We would not need to replace our expensive air conditioner or forced air furnace to make this viable. We only needed to purchase and install the air purification system with our usual HVAC technician. The new air filtration device would be installed as a component of the central heating and cooling plan, and that would be it. However, my husband just doesn’t think that air purification is necessary in our house. Or, at least he didn’t, until his mother complained about our dirty air. Now, we suddenly have an air purifier. I guess he understands her better.
