More importantly, I want them to be self-sufficient so they are always independent from myself and others
I guess I didn’t expect to be a dad when I was a lot younger. For most of my life I didn’t know why people wanted to have kids. It sounded like making a worthless sacrifice for the sake of other humans who may or may not love you back. I thought about all the missed vacations and fun boys’ nights out on the town and shuddered. What’s the fun in that? However, now that I’m older, I honestly understand the appeal of having children… It’s about passing on your own memories. This is tangible when I consider passing on some of my own personal interests and characteristics to my kids. Today, I have two sons who I have been carefully training to follow in my heating, cooling, and ventilation footsteps. Specifically, I want them to understand the value of working with your hands, repairing your own appliances, and establishing your own level of comfort. You shouldn’t need to rely on a heating, cooling, and air quality control technician just to survive. I want them to understand heating and cooling equipment to the point that they can fend for themselves, even if every air quality control dealership on the planet closes down. More importantly, I want them to be self-sufficient so they are always independent from myself and others. The last thing I want is a bunch of kids who can’t repair their HVAC systems and expect that I should – or, even worse yet, expect that I’ll pay for their professional heating and cooling services. My boys will be HVAC knowledgeable, not mooches.
