We are grateful for HVAC technology

My Grandpa has been living by himself since our Grandmother passed away a few years ago. His passing was truly hard on all of us! It was really rough for Grandpa. He had some health issues and our Grandmother used to have to help him around the home with a few things. But since his passing, the two of us stopped by more correctly to check up on him! We also sent an in-home nurse a few times a week to monitor his health for us. One cold Winter evening his oil furnace stopped working. The furnace was all the way down in the basement, so he put on his slippers and made the journey down to see if he could figure out the issue. Grandpa called a friend who walked him through the steps to reset the heater. Once he finished the small repair, he was getting ready to head back upstairs. He wanted to reset his control component when he slipped on a step and fell down, though he was able to call for help while he laid on the floor. It was so cold in the basement since the oil furnace had not been on for more than a few minutes. Grandpa’s body began aggressively shivering! He could reset the control component from his phone, however my mom had recommended installing a SMART thermostat in his house. She didn’t want him to go far to adjust the temperature. He reset the control component and by the time help showed up he had gotten warmer. He was still cold, but the doctor said that if he’d stay in the freezing cold for much longer, it would have really hurt him! We are grateful for new technology.
