When my wife and I found out that the ductless AC unit in the garage needed to be replaced, we called a couple of different places to get estimates.
The AC repair company wanted to charge a huge amount for the installation services.
My wife found a guy online that just started his own business. The guy was licensed, bonded, and insured. He was willing to install a ductless AC for a much lower fee. My wife made an appointment with the guy and we purchased the machine from the hardware store. We were ready Tuesday morning when the AC installation technician was scheduled to arrive. The guy seemed very friendly and he started working on the job very quickly. Unfortunately, halfway through the job, the guy tried to change the price of the job. He told my wife that it was going to be much more labor-intensive than he anticipated, so he was going to need to charge us an extra $200. My wife was totally and completely caught off guard. She didn’t know what to say to the guy, so she called me. I talked to the installation technician on the phone. I told the guy that he could leave now if Case thought we were going to pay more money for the AC installation job. We agreed on a price and we had a contract. If he was unwilling to honor the contract, then we were going to have an entirely different problem. Thankfully, the guy backed down when I mentioned the signed contract. He completed the installation for the agreed upon price.
